Bikes, Beer, Food Trucks, and Tiny Houses! Oh My!

Bikes are to cars as tiny houses are to single-family homes. No, this isn’t Freshman English class but bicycles and tiny houses do go together like PB&J. They’re both the answer to an expensive, noisy, smelly, bigger problem. So after learning about Alexis and Christian’s project, Tiny House Expedition, we were hooked.

Alexis and Christian are a couple living in Winston-Salem who have set out on a journey to build a tiny house on wheels, travel across the country to learn about tiny house communities, and make a documentary about it. Their goal is to teach the world about building sustainable, eco-friendly, affordable communities by inspiring us to build small. So it made sense to say “yes” when Alexis asked us to be a part of their Tiny House Expedition on the Green event on June, 20th, in Downtown Winston-Salem.

This FREE community event is sure to be a fun way to spend your Saturday and let’s face it, who doesn’t want to walk around inside of a tiny house? Based on the corner of Arts and Innovation (a.k.a. 6th & Liberty St) there will be 3 tiny houses for you to tour and see for yourself what all the hype is about. There will also be music, art, yoga, demos, and activities for the kids too. When you get hungry you can choose from several food trucks that will be onsite. And what would a party be without beer? Not a party at all. So our friends at Hoots Roller Bar & Beer Co. will be there to make sure it’s a party!

BeersNGears is making it easy to roll to the party in style. We’ll have free valet bike parking so you dont have to worry about where to lock up your bike. You can just drop it off at our booth, get a ticket, and we’ll keep your bike in a secured area. When you’re ready to ride away into the sunset, just come by with your ticket and we’ll grab your bike and get you on your way.

We will also be hosting a group ride from the event through downtown. We’ll meet at the BeersNGears table at 1:00 and ride our bikes around town for about an hour, at a seriously leisurely pace. Returning to the event to continue the party!

Check out the event page for all the details. We hope to see you there!
