Autumn on the Ave.

In 2015 — for those of you who don’t know — BEERSNGEARS will be changing directions slightly to include bicycle advocacy and community grants and this year at Autumn on the Ave. we will be getting our feet wet. Autumn on the Ave. is Historic Washington Park Neighborhood’s 2014 fall festival of sorts and it falls (pun absolutely intended) on Saturday, October 25. It’s sure to leaf (two, back-to-back) you feeling excited about everything autumn.

We will be holding two bicycle repair clinics where we will go over some basic skills to keep you riding without the need of a personal mechanic. We will teach you the proper way of taking the wheels on and off of your bike. We are going to show how to change an inner-tube, use a pump, and how to use a CO2 tire refill. We will make sure you know how to put a chain back on when it falls off and the appropriate way to use your fancy gears. The first one will be at 1:00 pm, and another at 3:00 pm. The best part of it all is they’re totally FREE!

After each repair clinic, we will all get on our bikes and take a quick stroll through the neighborhood. You’ll want to bring you little one’s for the first ride at 2:00 pm. It will be short, fun, and be catered towards the future cyclists of Washington Park. We will also be checking helmet fits, and talking about good use of hand signals. If you’re pretty sure your kid can ride about 2 miles, we would love to have you guys along. If you want to ride a little further and a little faster, come by for the 4:00 pm ride. We really hope to see you there!

Let us know if you like what we’re doing! “Pick-up” a virtual ticket and share with your friends.

Here is some more info about the rest of the event. It’s going to be a good time.
