Trek Madone 6.5 Review

MSRP: $6619.99
Weight: Not Weighed
Pros: Braking
Cons: Geometry

Summary:
I would have a really hard time distinguishing this bike from any other carbon performance road bike from others like it. It was stiff, it was super responsive. But then again, what should you expect for over $6000? What it all comes down to, for me, is if the geometry fits your personal build. And this bike, did not do it for me, at all. I’m about 6′ tall depending on what convenience store I’m leaving, so I normally ride about a 56cm frame. The 56cm felt long, so I grabbed the 54cm instead. This would normally fix this problem. It didn’t. I ended up with the seat at the maximum height which was still too low, and the bike still felt too long.

The only thing that really stood out (above the incredibly fast, responsive, rocket-ship frame that we’ve come to expect) were the integrated brakes. It’s really hard to describe how well these worked because there has been nothing like them that I’ve ever ridden. The only thing I could compare them to are disc brakes. They had great power but were not on-off switches. Smooth, effortless, concise braking on a road bike? Really? I know, it’s hard to believe, but it’s true.
